NSHF is a proud supporter of the Navy & Coast Guard Wounded Warrior Team for the Wounded Warrior Games – a Paralympic-style competition for more than 200 wounded, ill and injured service members from all branches of the United States military.

The Warrior Games were established in 2010 as a way to enhance the recovery and rehabilitation of wounded warriors and to expose them to adaptive sports. Sponsored by the U.S. Olympic Committee in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the inaugural Warrior Games hosted approximately 200 wounded, ill and injured service members. During the following years, the Warrior Games expanded in size and scope

In 2020, the U.S. Marine Corps will host the 2020 Department of Defense (DoD) Warrior Games in San Antonio, Texas (September 21-28, 2019). Approximately 300 wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans will participate in the competition. The athletes will represent the United States Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Special Operations Command. Teams include active military service members and veterans with upper-body, lower-body, and spinal cord injuries; traumatic brain injuries; visual impairment; serious illnesses; and post-traumatic stress. They will go head-to-head in 13 sports including, archery, cycling, time-trial cycling, shooting, sitting volleyball, swimming, track, field, wheelchair basketball, indoor rowing, powerlifting, golf,  and wheelchair rugby.

With your help, we will continue to raise awareness of the needs of wounded, ill and injured Sailors, Coast Guard members and their families. We will fill the gaps and provide services not available through government benefits. Thanks to your support, when hope seems dim, we are able to provide a bright light of aid—all in the Navy way they deserve.
