Sailors, Families & Friends,
Just a month ago I wrote with the great news of our successful first Caregiver Reset Program and about our second Caregiver event scheduled for 2 April in San Diego. Today I wonder how in so short a time, things could have changed so much. Unfortunately, in the wake of COVID-19 and along with cancelation of the Wounded Warrior Trials, we had to postpone that event. We now find ourselves socially distancing, working from home and uncertain about what the future holds. As scary as this all is, I want to reassure our community that Navy Safe Harbor Foundation (NSHF) remains dedicated to its mission to support our wounded, ill and injured Sailors, their families and their Caregivers. We are still here and open for business.
I am sure all of you have received multiple resources guiding you toward information regarding COVID-19 and possible programs of assistance, however I thought the following may be of benefit and reduce the stress of picking and choosing which sites were credible.
The most important site is the CDC with all the facts regarding symptoms, protection tips and general healthcare options.
Two Veteran-focused sites are US Department of Veterans Affairs-Coronavirus FAQ’s and VA’s public health response.
The Navy Wounded Warrior Program can be reached at 855-628-9997 for enrollment questions or through their website.
Navy Safe Harbor Foundation continues to plan for the September Wounded Warrior Games in San Antonio and we look forward to watching our athletes come together, support one another and play with all their hearts. We also have been working on new dates for future Caregiver events and are working to ensure that our Navy and Coast Guard families have the resources they need.
On a happier note NSHF has a new home. We along with the Association of the United States Navy have relocated to:
5904 Richmond Hwy, Suite #530
Alexandria, VA 22303
571-970-6369 (no change to our phone number)
We hope that if you are in the National Capital region, stop by and see our new offices. We would love to show you around.
Heidi Weller, President
Navy Safe Harbor Foundation
